Police have declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati ‘guilty’ in five cases related to the May 9 incidents.
This information was presented to the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) during the hearing of Swati’s interim bail applications in these cases.
During the proceedings, police informed the court that their investigation into the cases had been completed and that the former minister had been found ‘guilty.’
The court granted Swati’s legal team a final opportunity to present their arguments before adjourning the case. At this point, Swati cited health concerns and stated he was unable to argue on his bail applications.
Judge Manzoor Ali Gul directed his lawyers to proceed with their arguments, emphasizing that bail could be granted if they made a compelling case.
Swati, however, maintained that the cases against him were ‘fabricated.’ In response, the court noted that even if the allegations were false, the legal process required arguments to be presented.
The ATC then postponed the hearing on Swati’s interim bail pleas until February 25.
In November last year, Swati was arrested by Taxila police following his release from Attock Jail. He was implicated in a case related to PTI’s alleged violent protest and was taken into custody under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
Swati was charged alongside PTI founder Imran Khan and Islamabad President Aamir Masood Mughal Khan.
