President Asif Ali Zardari is set to deliver his address to the joint session of Parliament today (Monday), marking the start of the new parliamentary year.
The session is scheduled to begin at 3 PM, with strict security measures in place at Parliament House. Security checks at entry points have been intensified, and guest entry has been completely restricted. However, a limited number of media representatives will be allowed inside, as per the National Assembly Secretariat.
Reports indicate that key military officials, including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, have also been invited to attend.
The session provides an opportunity for President Zardari to highlight the government’s accomplishments over the past year and outline its targets for the future. His speech is expected to focus on key achievements, particularly in the economic sector.
Last week, the president requested a performance report from the government to incorporate into his address.
