Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon announced plans for a Karachi-Sukkur bullet train, emphasizing its launch in two phases. Speaking at a Karachi press conference, he highlighted investment opportunities in Pakistan, with provincial departments engaging foreign investors to attract capital.
Memon called the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) a top priority and revealed plans to establish a Karachi-based bus manufacturing plant to create jobs and offer affordable transportation. He also stressed enforcing motor vehicle fitness laws for road safety.
Criticizing PTI, Memon accused its founder of damaging Pakistan’s interests through civil disobedience and vandalism of national assets. On rumors of threats to the PTI chief, Memon suggested former minister Faisal Vawda might have more insight.
Highlighting Sindh’s success, Memon said the province leads in foreign investment, citing a recent $1 billion commitment in the medical sector and the Dhabeji Economic Zone, projected to generate 50,000 jobs. He also pointed to Thar’s coal reserves as pivotal for affordable energy production.
