PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has expressed hope that the government will form its negotiation committee by tomorrow while reaffirming the party’s commitment to civil disobedience if necessary. However, he emphasized that dialogue remains the preferred path to resolving the crisis.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Gohar revealed that the Speaker assured him of the committee’s formation, expressing optimism that it would be finalized soon. “Negotiations are the solution; through dialogue, we will find a way forward,” he stated.
Responding to remarks by senior lawyer Latif Khosa about the deadline for talks and the possibility of civil disobedience, Gohar acknowledged the movement would proceed if needed but reiterated that dialogue is the priority.
Separately, PTI leader Umar Ayub accused the government of insincerity in negotiations, alleging that officials obstructed the party’s team from meeting former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. Speaking outside an Islamabad court, Ayub criticized the government’s actions, claiming they showed no genuine intent for meaningful dialogue.
Ayub noted that despite efforts by Khan to form a negotiation team, the government’s refusal to allow access rendered the process ineffective. “No one should claim that talks weren’t attempted,” he said, accusing the authorities of undermining the potential for dialogue.
