Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho has expressed serious concerns about criminals infiltrating the private security sector, warning that this issue has become a national “cancer.”
Speaking at the launch of an advanced monitoring project with eight new security cameras around the Chinese Consulate, Odho stressed the need for stricter laws to combat this growing problem.
He revealed that the Home Department is working on new legislation to strengthen regulations for private security companies, highlighting the need for increased accountability.
Odho further stated that security company owners could face criminal charges if they fail to properly vet their guards.
He also mentioned that intelligence agencies, including the Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau, are actively investigating these security breaches.
In addition to tackling this issue, Odho noted that strict action is being taken against illegal vehicle modifications such as tinted windows, fancy license plates, and the public display of firearms. Over the past week, authorities have issued nearly 6,000 traffic fines, registered 940 cases, and seized several vehicles in an effort to enforce the law.
