If any star in Pakistani showbiz has had a standout year, it’s Hania Aamir. Even without the success of the hit drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, Hania, with her radiant smile and authentic personality, had already won the hearts of fans. Her candid discussions on mental health have struck a chord with her followers, who admire her openness on the topic.
However, it was her role as the fiercely independent yet relatable Sharjeena that solidified her status as a household name—a character likely to be remembered for years, much like Fawad Khan’s portrayal of Ashar in Humsafar (2011). In a rapid-fire interview with digital creator Faridoon Shahryar during her recent trip to Canada, Hania shared her favorite compliments about the show that had recently captivated audiences across the country.
“I love all the compliments!” she admitted. “But the ones I appreciate the most are when people say they learned something, like how some reels mentioned that couples were learning to resolve conflicts with mutual respect.” Hania added, “When your work has a positive impact on someone, it’s truly rewarding. I prefer these kinds of reactions over the ones that just say they loved the drama.”
The impact of the show has been so widespread that Hania revealed she responds in public when fans call her by her character’s name, Sharjeena. She was especially touched when she learned that fans had started naming their babies after her character, calling it “really sweet and cute!”
During the interview, Hania had a brief moment of embarrassment when reminded of a scene from Ishqiya (2020) with Feroze Khan. In the scene, she asks his character to call her and say he misses her, only for him to then call and tell her to stop bothering him. When asked about her reaction to moments like this, Hania laughed, calling it “Cute, but cringe!”
Always quick-witted, Hania had a ready response when asked to choose between love and success. “Success!” she replied without hesitation, joking, “And then I’ll fall in love with success!”
Her drive for success is closely tied to her commitment to mental well-being. Hania frequently uses her Instagram to advocate for mental health, reminding her followers earlier this year that “dark days are okay” and there’s “no shame” in seeking professional support. Her response to the question, “Which relationship would you most like to improve?” reflected this commitment to self-care.
“Myself,” she answered simply. “I’d like to strengthen my relationship with myself most.”
With her insights on success and self-reflection, Hania Aamir continues to be a role model for her fans, whether as the endearing Hania herself or the inspiring Sharjeena.
