The ban on prisoner visits at Adiala Jail has been lifted, allowing all meetings to resume regularly, according to sources within the facility on Saturday.
This restriction was initially imposed on October 4 due to increased security concerns following a potential terrorist threat and subsequent security drills. Originally, Adiala Jail authorities had extended the visitation ban until October 25.
Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is currently detained at this facility. His wife, Bushra Bibi, was recently released on bail following orders from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
With the ban now lifted, all prisoners, including high-profile individuals, can receive visitors once again. The previous visitation restrictions had caused unrest among PTI leaders, who were unable to consult with Khan on political matters.
After being denied visits for over three weeks, PTI leadership was finally permitted to meet with Khan last week, thanks to intervention from the IHC. Additionally, concerns regarding Khan’s health were raised by party leaders, leading to authorization for him to see a doctor after overcoming some obstacles.
