
A Qatari naval ship, Al Khor, arrived in Karachi this week to participate in joint exercises and bilateral training with the Pakistan Navy, as confirmed by a navy statement.
Pakistan regularly conducts such exercises with friendly navies to enhance maritime cooperation, promote regional stability, and strengthen ties. These activities focus on improving interoperability, tactical operations, and counter-terrorism capabilities, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to maritime security collaboration with allies.
“The Qatari ship will take part in the joint exercise Asad Al Bahr and engage in bilateral training and discussions with Pakistan Navy counterparts during its stay in Karachi,” the Pakistan Navy announced on Monday. The ship received a warm welcome from Pakistan Navy officers and sailors upon its arrival.
During the visit, the commanding officer of the Qatari ship paid respects at the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder. He also met with Vice Admiral Faisal Abbasi, the Pakistan Fleet Commander, to discuss mutual interests and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
The Qatari commander praised the Pakistan Navy’s efforts in promoting peace and security in the region, according to the press release.
