Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have appointed a new legal team, excluding several key lawyers associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The newly formed team features prominent figures such as Barrister Salman Akram Raja, Barrister Salman Safdar, and Usman Riaz Gul. Other members include Chaudhry Zaheer Abbas, Arshad Tabrez, Qausain Faisal Mufti, Khalid Mehmood Yousaf, Chaudhry Ishtiaq, Abu Zar Niazi, Rai Salman Amjad, Shoaib Shaheen, Sardar Qadeer, Ali Ijaz Butter, and Mishal Yousafzai.
However, notable PTI-linked lawyers, including Faisal Chaudhry, Barrister Gohar, and Sher Afzal Marwat, were excluded from the revamped lineup. Their absence has raised questions about the decision-making behind this reshuffle.
The new legal team will represent Khan and Bushra Bibi in the high-profile Toshakhana case, which revolves around allegations regarding gifts received during Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister.
Observers suggest that the exclusion of experienced PTI-affiliated lawyers may signal a shift in legal strategy as the case moves forward.
