Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) dispatched a shipment of relief items to Lebanon as part of the government’s efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by Israel’s military actions in the region.
Since the surprise attack by Hamas in October last year, which Hamas stated was in response to deteriorating conditions for Palestinians under Israeli occupation, Israel has besieged the Gaza Strip and conducted airstrikes. The ongoing conflict has led to nearly 43,000 Palestinian deaths, predominantly among women and children.
Recently, Israel has opened another front in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah, which has provided military support to Palestinians, raising concerns about a potential wider regional conflict, possibly involving Iran.
According to the NDMA, following directives from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, they continue to deliver humanitarian aid to those affected by the war in Gaza and Lebanon. Thursday marked the second aid consignment sent from Karachi to Lebanon.
This shipment, coordinated with the Al-Khidmat Foundation, includes approximately 100 tons of supplies, such as medicines, ready-to-eat meat, tents, tarpaulins, warm bedding, winter clothing, and powdered milk. The send-off ceremony at Jinnah International Airport was attended by representatives from NDMA, the foreign ministry, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and local officials.
The statement noted that this is Pakistan’s 12th aid shipment to Palestine and Lebanon, with the first ten sent to Palestine and the latest two to Lebanon. The government has also set up a prime minister’s relief fund to collect public donations for the affected populations in Gaza and Lebanon.
