
Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam University has secured a spot among the world’s top 500 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, specifically within the 401-500 category. These rankings, released annually, assess various criteria, including teaching quality, research output, employability, and sustainability. This achievement not only boosts the university’s reputation but also underscores its academic excellence and global impact.
Quaid-e-Azam University stands out as the only institution in Pakistan within the 401-500 range, while seven other universities are placed in the 601-800 category. This year’s rankings analyzed over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and included responses from 68,402 scholars globally. Overall, 411,789 data points were gathered from more than 2,673 institutions.
The 2024 rankings highlight significant changes in the global higher education landscape and are regarded as a reliable resource by students, educators, governments, and industry experts. The universities in the 601-800 category include Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Air University, Capital University of Science and Technology, COMSATS University Islamabad, University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Government College University Faisalabad, and the National University of Sciences and Technology.
Moreover, eleven Pakistani universities are featured in the 801-1000 band, including Bahria University, Hazara University Mansehra, International Islamic University Islamabad, Islamia College Peshawar, University of Lahore, Lahore University of Management Sciences, University of Malakand, University of Management and Technology, University of the Punjab, Institute of Space Technology, and the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. Thirteen universities are ranked in the 1001-1200 band, while four fall within the 1201-1500 range, with others in the 1500+ category.
