Contrary to earlier reports, Pakistani cinema star Fawad Khan will not be making his Bollywood comeback alongside Vaani Kapoor.
Initially, it was announced that Khan would return to Bollywood after an eight-year hiatus, co-starring with Vaani Kapoor in an untitled romantic comedy filmed entirely in the UK. An exclusive report from an Indian entertainment magazine indicated he would play a UK-based chef, directed by Aarti Bagdi.
However, recent developments confirm that the ‘Khoobsurat’ star will instead be paired with Ridhi Dogra, known for her role in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan,’ for the comeback film.
An insider revealed, “The two will star in a romcom, though the supporting cast is yet to be determined. The project is still in its early stages, with paperwork just completed, and the two have been signed as romantic leads. The director’s name remains confidential.”
Additionally, the source stated that the untitled project is set to begin filming towards the end of this year, with locations in New York (US) and London (UK). The film is expected to be released in late 2025 or early 2026.
Fawad Khan’s last Bollywood appearance was in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016) before the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and the Film Producers Guild of India banned Pakistani artists from working in India following deteriorating relations after the Uri attack.
Meanwhile, Ridhi Dogra has recently gained fame for her performances in ‘Jawan’ and ‘Tiger 3.’
