Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has taken a firm stance on the recent late-night raid at Parliament House, promising to bring those responsible to justice. Addressing the National Assembly on Tuesday, Sadiq assured that decisive measures would be taken and that the incident would not go unnoticed. He has requested all video evidence to identify the culprits and suggested that filing an FIR might be necessary.
Sadiq, recalling his previous experience during an earlier attack on Parliament, stressed the importance of a strong response. He has summoned an emergency meeting with political leaders from all parties to decide on the next steps.
In response, PTI leader Ali Mohammad Khan has strongly criticized the raid, calling it an attack on democracy. Khan questioned whether such an attack on Parliament signifies an attack on Pakistan itself and condemned the actions of the masked individuals involved in the arrests. The incident has also drawn criticism from PPP and MQM members, intensifying the situation.
The raid, which occurred in the early hours, resulted in the arrest of PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and MNA Sher Afzal Marwat. The arrests, linked to violations during a PTI rally, were made after a heavy police presence gathered outside Parliament House.
