Amid Bajrang Dal protests demanding the cancellation of Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Indore, the Punjabi singer dedicated the event to late Urdu poet Rahat Indori, a cherished figure in the city.
Responding to the protests during his Dil-Luminati tour on Sunday, Dosanjh quoted Indori’s iconic ghazal, “Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai” (Hindustan isn’t anyone’s property). The verse highlights unity and resilience: “If they oppose, let them; it’s not life at stake. This land bears the sacrifices of all, Hindustan belongs to no one individual.”
The Bajrang Dal had approached Indore police, accusing Dosanjh of past “anti-national remarks” and alleged Khalistan support. Bajrang Dal leader Avinash Kaushal declared: “We won’t allow such a person to perform in Maa Ahilya’s city. If the event proceeds, we’ll protest in our way.”
