“I have dedicated so many years to this; it has been my lifelong dream,” says Abdul Majeed, an IT professional turned bodybuilder, after winning two gold medals and the Mr. Universe title at the World Fitness Federation’s 2024 event in Las Vegas.
Abdul earned his professional card by securing gold in both the open masters and super extreme categories. He began his journey at the local level with Core Karachi Gym, where he gained a reputation as one of the most committed fitness professionals while pursuing his bodybuilding career and competing in various events.
Achieving the title of Mr. Universe and winning two gold medals was no easy feat, especially with competitors from 42 countries participating between October 19 and 20. Abdul’s journey includes being crowned Mr. Karachi in 2014 and Mr. Pakistan in 2020, alongside countless training sessions and managing multiple jobs to pursue his dream.
“Getting a pro card is the dream of every bodybuilder. I had been working hard for six months for this event,” Abdul shared. “There were many challenges, including the expense, which I managed on my own. But it was my dream.”
“Overall, I was incredibly happy when I won my medals. I grabbed the Pakistani flag and cried as I took pictures and videos. When they announced my name, I was ecstatic; I had finally fulfilled my lifelong dream. It was an overwhelming achievement, especially with such incredible talent from 42 countries.”
Now settled in Dubai, Abdul acknowledged the support he received from the World Fitness Federation Pakistan, which helped him represent the country. He mentioned that two other bodybuilders also represented Pakistan in Las Vegas, with one winning gold and the other silver.
