
Veteran actor and comedian Abid Kashmiri passed away in Lahore on Friday at the age of 74.
Radio Pakistan confirmed his death, with his family stating that he had been facing serious kidney issues and breathing difficulties for some time.
Kashmiri had been living and working abroad but continued to perform during a recent visit to Pakistan, as long as his health allowed.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
Born on May 4, 1950, in Lahore, Kashmiri was celebrated for his work across various TV dramas, stage productions, and films, captivating audiences with his spontaneous comedic style. In 1988, he won the Nigar Award for Best Comedy Actor for his performance in the film Bazar-e-Husn. Other notable works include Lohari Gate, Suraj Ke Sath Sath, Samundar, Apnay Log, and Teesra Kinara.
Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan expressed his condolences over the actor’s demise.
