In a significant move to boost tourism, the Sindh government has announced substantial fee reductions for filming, drama production, commercial videos, photography, and bridal shoots at various cultural and historical sites. This initiative was led by Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah.
According to a departmental statement, the filming fee at Mohenjo-Daro and Makli has been dramatically lowered from 200,000 rupees to just 50,000 rupees. Additionally, the fee for the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum has been cut from 100,000 to 30,000 rupees.
Other fees have also been revised: the Maki House Museum in Hyderabad, Kot Diji Fort, and Naukot Fort now have a fee of 30,000 rupees, down from 100,000. Similarly, charges for filming at Umar Kot Fort and Museum, Rani Kot Fort, Chaukundi Graveyard, and Bhambore Fort have been set at 30,000 rupees.
The Secretary of Culture has issued a notification regarding these new pricing structures. Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah highlighted that these reductions aim to make these sites more accessible, allowing more visitors to enjoy and film at these historical landmarks.
He further noted that by decreasing fees, the cultural and historical sites of Sindh would gain increased visibility, positively showcasing the province on the global stage, in alignment with directives from the Chief Minister of Sindh.
